Iron County Youth to Serve in Leadership Roles in County Government

On November 7th 2017 the Iron County Board took a major step in engaging the counties young people in local decision making by approving a resolution that creates 4 seats for youth in grades 9-12 on the Iron County Board of Supervisors. Six students from Mercer and Hurley Schools will be the first members of the Iron County Youth Leadership Council.

UW-Extension to Offer Winter Camp in January 2018

We are now accepting registrations for the upcoming Winter Camp that takes place on January 12-14 at Camp Crosswoods in Delta, WI.

Campers must be 14 years old OR in the 8th grade. Preferred registrants must be currently enrolled in the Iron County 4-H program or were counselors/counselors in training at the 2017 Iron County Summer Youth Camp. Parent chaperones are welcome.


Klemme Featured On Wiconsin Public Radio

Neil Klemme, Iron County 4-H Youth Development Educator was featured on Wisconsin Public Radio, Central Time, where he discussed the work he has been doing to engage youth in community development projects.


UW-Extension To Offer Master Gardener Training

Iron County UW-Extension will be offering another beginner Master Gardener Training this fall.
Leven I Training will be held in Hurley and run from October 11 through January 10th.

Iron County Grandparent Survey

If you are a grandparent living in Iron County, please complete the survey in this article. Paper copies are available at the Mercer Library, the Hurley Library and the UW Extension office in the Iron County Courthouse. The survey will be open until August 15th. Those who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card to Sharon’s Coffee Company.
